Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek is one of the most popular trekking packages in Nepal. ABC is suitable for both beginner and experienced traveler. Attracting almost 70,000 trekkers per year, it is one of the most beautiful treks that combine some of the most beautiful and majestic mountain panorama with the mixture of rich biodiversity and culture unmatched by other trekking packages in Nepal. ABC is a small campsite surrounded by mighty mountains from all side, Machapuchhare (6,993m/22,943), Annapurna I(8091m/26505ft), and Hiunchuli (6,441m/21,131ft), respectively.
Annapurna Base Camp trek begins from the beautiful city Pokhara. We drive for 2 hours from the Pokhara to Nayapul, the starting point of trek. We march forward towards Ghandruk where we can have spectacular view of wide range of mountains of Annapurna region extending from east to west. After crossing Ghandruk, we will reach Chomrong, a Gurung village. All along the way, steep paths we walk along the swift flowing river through lush green forest with rhododendron, pine , bamboo encountering rare species like white breasted kingfisher, highland butterflies, musk deer. We also get a chance to mingle with local ethnic groups of Gurung, Magar, Thakalis , Lama,etc.
While you are in Chomrong you can also make a short trip to Hot Spring. The walking trail will now lead us to Dovan and traversing high above the river we will get to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC). Walking further uphill takes us to the destination, Annapurna Base Camp (4135m) with super panorama. Many have been amazed by the unimaginable all round views of beautiful snow capped Annapurna Mountain Range.
After a great time here, we return back to Dovan via MBC. We reach Jhinu and finally to Pokhara. The journey is clockwise. ABC trek is possible throughout all season, however best seasons are spring (Feb.- May) and fall(Sept.-Dec). ABC trek don’t need any previous experience. So, get ready to get a relic of a lifetime and know why it is most chosen destination for travelers around the world.
