Introduction

Dhampus Sarangkot Trek

Dhampus Sarangkot is a short and easy trek around Pokhara that offers stunning Himalayan panoramas passing through pleasant villages of different ethnic groups. Sarangkot and Dhampus are most popular viewpoints in Pokhara. Pokhara valley is filled with lush vegetation, beautiful lakes, rivers and cultural heritages. Damai settlements are found in Sarangkot which is just above Pokhara city and can be seen from Lake side in Pokhara. Dhampus is a beautiful village of Gurung community which includes ethnic area like Ghandruk. Most of them are Gurkha armies and some practice agriculture. This trek is ideal for those who have no trekking experience, limited time and suitable for all age groups.

Dhampus Sarangkot Trek begins after you reach to Pokhara via fliht or bus drive form Kathmandu. From Pokhara we drive through rice paddies on the bank of Seti river to Phedi. The trek starts with straight uphill climp to Dhampus whose dominant residents are Gurungs. The trail passes through small lush forests,cultivated land, Brahman and Cheetri community. The view of Annapurna, Lamjung Himalayan range, Dhaulagiri, Hiunchuli and other mountains from Dhampus village looks awesome. The living style of Nepal country side and local culture of Gurung people will be unforgettable experience. Next day we trek further passing through small town, rice paddies, beautiful hills all the way up to the apex of the hill of Sarangkot. This viewpoint is one the Nepal’s best sunrise and sunset view with glorious views of Manaslu, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Ganesh Himal, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and many other peaks. We will also see stunning views of Pokhara Valley with Phewa lake. Then we trek back to Pokhara. Pokhara is the most famous tourist destination of the country. It’s major attractions are natural and cultural sites such as boat ride in Lakes- Phewa, Begnas,etc., Bindabasinin and Talbarahi temple, Buddhist monastery, Mahendra cave, Davis falls, paragliding from hills and many more. Finally we return back to Kathmandu via bus drive or flight.

Dhampus Sarangkot trek not only provides stunning views of Himalayas and taste of local ethnic culture but you also get to explore Pokhara valley and find out for yourselves why it is called tourist paradise of Neapl. Spring and Autumn are best seasons as you can have clear view of mountains.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day : 1 ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU

    Your wonderful journey to the amazing Himalayas starts from your flight to Kathmandu. Onto your arrival our company representatives from Leaf Holidays will greet you at the Tribhuwan International Airport and escort you to the hotel for check-in and stay overnight. You will have a rest at the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

  • Day : 2 Sightseeing of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur city

    You start a guided tour to four of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square holds the palaces of the medieval Kings who ruled over the Kathmandu Kingdom. Pashupatinath houses a sacred Lingum, or the phallic symbol of Lord Shiva. The Aryaghat alongside Pashupati and on the banks of the Bagmati River is a famous funeral site for the Hindus. The Buddhists shrine of Boudhanath is one of the largest stupas in the world, and one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage and tourist destinations in Kathmandu. The area of Boudhnath is also famous for over 50 Tibetan Gompas or monasteries. Swayambhu meaning the "the self-existent" is popular among the foreigners as the Monkey Temple owing to the large number of monkey population residing in the area. Bhaktapur Durbar square and Patan Durbar Square are also listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Bhakatpur is an irresistible city with an authentic local lifestyle preserved over centuries of isolation from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. While in the city square, you get to admire the Nyata-Pola Temple, the Golden Gate, water spouts and the 55 Window Palace which merge together to provide an ambience of a magical outdoor theater to its visitors.   • Day : 3 Drive or fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (200 Km) 6 hours.

    You depart early in the morning for the seven hours drive by tourist deluxe bus or your selective vehicle from Kathmandu to Pokhara(200 km) west of Kathmandu. You also have a flight option from Kathmandu to Pokhara which takes upto 25 minutes.

  • Day : 4 Drive from Pokhara to Phedi (950m) and hike to Dhampus(1650m) 5 hours

    After an early morning breakfast you drive to Phedi(950m) by car which takes up to 1 hour. Now you begin your hike to Phedi to Dhampus(1650m) which takes 4 hours. Overnight at Dhampus.

  • Day : 5 Hike from Dhampus to Sarangkot(1720m) 5 hours

    Early in the morning you can have a mesmerizing golden view with sunshine of Annapurna, Fishtail and Dhaulagiri mountains and many more peaks with. After having breakfast we will hike from Dhampus to Sarangkot(1720m) via Naudanda which takes 5 hours. Overnight at Sarangkot.

  • Day : 6 Hike down to Pokhara(827m) 3 Hours

    In the early morning you may walk on hills to watch beautiful mountains and have a mesmerizing view of Pokhara city, Phewa Lake and get back to the hotel and have breakfast. You can also have a paragliding option at Sarangkot as the place is very popular in Paragliding. Then after you hike down to Pokhara(827m) which takes 3 hours approx.

  • Day : 7 Drive or fly back to Kathmandu from Pokhara(200km) 6 hours

    After finishing the beautiful trek this is time to get back to Kathmandu. We can have a drive option or a flying option as per your choice. After arrival in Kathmandu you can have souvenirs shopping time in Kathmandu and at evening we will arrange a farewell dinner. Overnight at Holiday.

  • Day : 8 Transfer to the airport for the final departure

    Nearly 2 hours before your scheduled flight, our company representative will take you to the airport. We are sure; you will back to your home taking amazing experience of Nepal. We hope you enjoyed trekking and want to be somewhere in the Himalayas again.
