Introduction

Ghale Gaun Trek

Ghale Gaun Trek is a new and short trekking route in Annapurna region. Ghale Gaun, situated at an altitude of 2095m above sea level, is a cultural village of the Gurung- the world famous Gurkha soldiers. One can experience the unique lifestyles of Gurung and the lush green natural beauty with the view of stunnig mountains in this trek. Majestic panorama of Himalayas – Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, Annapurna II, Annapurna IV, Lamjung Himal, Boudha Himal and many more snow capped peaks awaits to mesmerize you. Not to mention the dense forests, villages, awesome waterfalls, lush valleys, beautiful landscape.

Ghale Gaun Trek itinerary can also be managed or extended as per your wish. This trek begins after you reach Beshisahar or Khudi via drive from Pokhara. You can trek from Beshisahar to Khudi. From Khudi we start to ascend crossing over rivers, passing through dense rhododendron forest with different animals and chirping birds all the way to Ghale Gaun. Traditional practices are still followed by the locals during important ceremony like births, deaths, marriages, etc. Old cultural dances like Jyaure, Serka, Dohori, Sorathi, Jankri, Ghatu,etc. are performed on the beat of traditional musical instruments in traditional dress on various occasions and festivals. We also visit Ghanpokhara – another Gurung village about 100m above Ghalegaun. This village also provides magnificent views of mountains and is famous for honey hunting sites. Various kinds of Himalayan birds and wildlife have made their home in the picturesque dense forests and green pastures of grasslands in this region. After exploring these villages we return back to Khudi and then to Pokhara. We can explore Pokhara for a bit if we like and then return back to Kathmandu.

Ghale Gaun offers home stay facility, a simple and clean accommodation. The people are warm and friendly and have a great respect for their guests. Ghale Gaun trek is a perfect trek to observe the traditional lifestyle of Gurungs and enjoy the beauty of nature. Best time for this trek is March to May and September to December.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day : 1 ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU

    Your wonderful journey to the amazing Himalayas starts from your flight to Kathmandu. Onto your arrival our company representatives will greet you at the Tribhuwan International Airport and escort you to the hotel for check-in and stay overnight. You will have a rest at the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

  • Day : 2 Sightseeing of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur city

    You start a guided tour to four of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square holds the palaces of the medieval Kings who ruled over the Kathmandu Kingdom. Pashupatinath houses a sacred Lingum, or the phallic symbol of Lord Shiva. The Aryaghat alongside Pashupati and on the banks of the Bagmati River is a famous funeral site for the Hindus. The Buddhists shrine of Boudhanath is one of the largest stupas in the world, and one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage and tourist destinations in Kathmandu. The area of Boudhnath is also famous for over 50 Tibetan Gompas or monasteries. Swayambhu meaning the "the self-existent" is popular among the foreigners as the Monkey Temple owing to the large number of monkey population residing in the area. Bhaktapur Durbar square and Patan Durbar Square are also listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Bhakatpur is an irresistible city with an authentic local lifestyle preserved over centuries of isolation from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. While in the city square, you get to admire the Nyata-Pola Temple, the Golden Gate, water spouts and the 55 Window Palace which merge together to provide an ambience of a magical outdoor theater to its visitors.   • Day : 3 Drive to Khudi. 8 hours

    Early morning after having breakfast we drive to Khudi. Our starting point of trek. We drive upto 8 hours to reach Khudi. Overnight at Hotel.

  • Day : 4 Khudi to Ghalegaun. 6 hours

    After having breakfast we start our hiking today. Our starting day of the trek. On the way we will pass with the green hilly forests along with a rivers with the majestic view of mountains. Onto arrival to Ghalegaon the hosts welcome with you with their traditions with a welcome drink. Overnight at Ghalegaun.

  • Day : 5 Ghalegaun tour

    Today we will have a tour at Ghalegaun. The Ghalegaun village is a Gurung village with a ethnic culture and traditions. You’ll interact with the locals during your tour. You’ll have a magnificent view of the Himalayas from Ghalegaun during your hike. Overnight at Ghalegaun.

  • Day : 6 Ghalegaun to Khudi or Besisahar

    Today you will return to Khudi from same way you came back. If you have enough time back to Besisahar. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day : 7 Besisahar to Kathmandu

    Today you’ll return to Kathmandu as the bus takes you to Kathmandu from Besisahar. Drive upto 8 hours will take you to Kathmandu. This day you’ll have a souvenir shopping and a farewell dinner onto completion of the trekking. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day : 8 Transfer to the airport for the final departure

    Nearly 2 hours before your scheduled flight, our company representative will take you to the airport. We are sure; you will back to your home taking amazing experience of Nepal. We hope you enjoyed trekking and want to be somewhere in the Himalayas again.
